What are Private Prescriptions?

We will provide private prescriptions when medication is clinically indicated

Take the private prescription to the pharmacy.

This is not written on an official NHS prescription and so is not paid for by the NHS. In other words, the cost is entirely covered by the patient.

Additionally, there is the cost of the medicine plus the pharmacist’s fee.

During the consultation at THE NURSE CLINIC

Before any Private Prescription is issued a full history is taken of current medication, drug allergies and current over the counter medications being taken.

You will also be asked if you have any questions regarding the medication.

You will be told how to take the medication, how often and for how long.

The cost of issuing the private prescription at THE NURSE CLINIC is £20. This is paid at the consultation

At the pharmacy

Hand over the prescription to the Pharmacist and they will explain how much they charge for the medication

The Pharmacist will reiterate any allergies you make have and how to take the medication along with any side effects you may experience.

After collecting the medication

You must complete the course of medication as advised.

Call THE NURSE CLINIC if concerned. If the interactions are life threatening please call 999.
