TREATMENT PLAN

The recommended dosage of vitamin B12 injections for B12 deficiency is 1000 mcg (1 injection) every 2-3 months. If you require B12 for a deficiency you will need a blood test prior to attending the clinic or have your recent blood test results.

If you simply wish to have B12 injections for wellbeing or dietary purposes we are able to administer these every 6 months.

Do I need blood tests prior to treatment?

No, you do not require blood tests. Having a blood test, in order to check your general health is always beneficial  it is helpful for you to access any recent liver, kidney and full blood count results from your GP surgery to bring with you to your appointment at THE NURSE CLINIC.

PLEASE BE AWARE FOR FORMULAS CONTAINING AMINO ACIDS, LIVER AND KIDNEY FUNCTION BLOOD TESTS ARE MANDATORY FOR ALL PATIENTS

We will ask for you to sign a disclaimer stating that you are happy to go ahead with treatment without blood tests.

Is it painful?

IV and IM Vitamins are not painful but patients occasionally report mild discomfort during the initial butterfly needle insertion or IM Injection . A mild stinging sensation is occasionally felt but this subsides. Bruising, itching or redness is sometimes experienced. 

When will I feel the benefits of the treatment?

Treatment response can vary from person to person. Some patients report an instant outcome, whereas others find it takes between 12 and 24 hours. Whatever happens for you, the results are fairly rapid.

Are there age limits to receiving IV Vitamin Infusions?

Yes, each infusion has an age range that the protocol states it is safe to administer to. Please consult each individual infusion for more details

Is there contraindications to receiving IV Vitamin Infusions that contain amino acids?

There are some scenarios where IV Vitamin Infusions are contraindicated. They are:

1) OVER 60 YEARS OF AGE.

2) DEHYDRATED PATIENTS INCLUDING WITHIN 7 DAYS OF AN ENDURANCE SPORTS EVENT.

3) PATIENTS WITH CO-MORBIDITIES.

4) CANCER PATIENTS RECEIVING CHEMOTHERAPY AND OR RADIO-THERAPY.

5) FEBRILE PATIENTS.

6) PATIENTS SUFFERING WITH KIDNEY DISEASE.

7) PATIENTS WITH A HISTORY OF HEPATITIS AND ANY OTHER LIVER DISEASE.

8) PATIENTS SUFFERING WITH LIVER CIRRHOSIS.

9) CHRONIC ALCOHOL ABUSE.

10) ILLEGAL DRUG ABUSE.

11) EPILEPTIC PATIENTS.

12) WITHIN 6 WEEKS OF ANY VACCINATION.

13) PATIENTS RECEIVING TREATMENT FOR CARDIAC FAILURE.

VITAMIN B1 (THIAMINE)

Vitamin B1 plays a critical role in energy metabolism

Vitamin B2 (RIBOFLAVIN)

Plays major roles in energy production; cellular function, growth, and development; and metabolism of fats, drugs, and steroids

Vitamin B3 (NIACIN)

Niacin is not a true vitamin since it can be derived from tryptophan (amino acid) but it is inefficient as a sole source of niacin synthesis and the process requires vitamins B1, B2 and B6
